Nazacara

Nazacara is a village in the department of La Paz in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Nazacara is the central place of the Canton Nazacara district ( bolivian: Municipio) San Andrés de Machaca in the province Ingavi. Nazacara lies at an altitude of 3830 m on the right bank of the Río Desaguadero, 65 kilometers downstream from Lake Titicaca. At the opposite east bank is Nazacara de Pacajes, central location of the Municipio de Nazacara Pacajes, the centers of the two places are less than a kilometer apart.

Geography

Nazacara lies between the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Oriental and the Cordillera Central in the Andean dry climate of the Altiplano with an average annual rainfall of about 500 mm (see climate chart Nazacara ). The region has a pronounced diurnal climate where the average temperatures fluctuate more during the day than during the year.

The mean average temperature of the region is located at 9 ° C, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 5 ° C in July and 10 ° C in December, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm from May to August and from 100 to 125 mm in January and February.

From La Paz the paved highway Ruta 2 leads west to El Alto, from there the Ruta 19 a further 23 kilometers to the southwest to Viacha. Here branches off the unpaved Ruta 43 in a southwesterly direction and reaches after 67 kilometers Nazcara. The road continues via Santiago de Machaca by Hito IV on the Peruvian border.
