Players assignment

Players of the D -League sign contracts with the clubs, but with the league itself, the squad of a D -League team consists of twelve players, ten ( or less ) of D- League players and two ( or more) NBA professionals. The team therefore consists of players from the previous season, players who were selected for the D -League Draft, allocated players (players are assigned to a team, to which they have a local connection. Example players from the University of Texas are the Austin Toros allocated. ), NBA players and a player who could convince at a local excretion. Each NBA team can its associated D -League team assign two rookies or players in the NBA second year. If more assigned, the team must reduce the number of D -League players, so the maximum size of the squad remains of twelve players. NBA teams to players unlimited number of times called for games, but players can only be sent three times in a season in the D- League.

Many players who had been gedrafted or rescinded by NBA teams began to play and so it happened that soon many players from this developmental league got a contract in the NBA in the D- League. The most famous currently active NBA players who have gone their way through the NBDL are Rafer Alston, Chris Andersen, Matt Carroll, Smush Parker, Devin Brown and Bobby Simmons.
