NBA Rookie of the Year Award
The NBA Rookie of the Year Award is an award of the National Basketball Association (NBA ) for the best newcomer (English: rookie ), ie player in his first NBA season, the league in the regular season.
History
The NBA Rookie of the Year Award has been awarded since the 1947/48 season. The corresponding trophy is named after Edward Gottlieb, a founding father of the NBA and longtime owner of the Philadelphia Warriors. The NBA Rookie of the Year select the same journalists who also awarded the NBA Most Valuable Player Award.

The oldest winner of the NBA Rookie of the Year Awards was Ralph Sampson in 1983/84 with 23 years and 9 months. Youngest winner was LeBron James 2003/ 04 at the age of 19 years and 4 months.
