NConf

NConf is an open- source software for configuring the Nagios monitoring software (and their fork Icinga ). The software is primarily aimed at system administrators who want to manage their Nagios configuration in a simple way via a graphical user interface, as opposed to the usual manual administration with a text editor.

NConf allows central management of a distributed monitoring environment. It provides various enterprise technologies such as user authentication via LDAP, a database API and the dissemination of the managed configuration via secure protocols (SCP, HTTPS ). An import mechanism for existing Nagios configurations is also available.

NConf is mainly written in PHP and Perl. All data is stored in a MySQL database. The software has the following dependencies: Nagios, Apache web server, PHP, Perl and MySQL.

History

The development of NConf began in 2006. The software was originally developed in -house and used exclusively by the Sunrise Communications AG, a Swiss telecommunications company. 2009 Sunrise chose the software under the GNU General Public License ( GPL) to publish. Since 2011, the NConf source code is available in a public repository on GitHub.
