Near East Foundation

The Near East Foundation (NEF ), formerly Near East Relief (NER ), Turkish Yakın Dogu Amerikan Yardım heyeti, English American Committee for Relief in the Near East, established in 1915 is a development agency. She was formerly ve as Ermenilere Süryanilere Amerikan Yardım heyeti (English American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief ) known.

The headquarters of the Foundation moved in 2010 from Manhattan at Syracuse University in upstate New York, with which there is a close exchange through affiliate programs.

The organization began in 1915, when Cleveland H. Dodge led a group of New York - leaders establishing the Near East Relief, an answer to the urgent request of the Ambassador in Constantinople Opel, Henry Morgenthau, for the Zuhilfekommen in the rescue of victims of expulsion of the Greeks of Asia Minor and further deportations of 1915. in 1930 the NER was renamed the Near East Foundation.
