Nebovidy (Brno-Country District)

Nebovidy ( German Nebowid, formerly Nepowied ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south-west of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Nebovidy located in the highlands Bobravská left side above the valley of Bobrava in the source basin of the creek Nebovidský creek. North-east rises the Rovný (307 m), in the southeast, the Kozi hora ( 355 m) and in the southwest of Nebovid ( 369 m). Nebovidy located on the edge of the natural park Bobrava.

Neighboring towns are Ostopovice and Stary Liskovec in the north, Bohunice and Moravany in the northeast, Modřice in the east, in the southeast Želešice, Hajany in the south, Ořechovičky, Ořechov and Prštice the southwest, Radostice in the west and Střelice and Troubsko in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Nebowidi took place in the Chronica Boemorum in a deed of 1104 to the monastery Třebíč, which has proven to be a forgery. The site was created as a street village. The independent Good Nebovid was in spiritual possession, especially of the Brno chapter of St. Peter and Paul. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was burnt down in 1645 by the Swedes. As part of the Josephine reforms the estate in 1782 fell to the religious fund. 1821 put a major fire part of the town in ruins.

After the abolition of patrimonial Nebovid formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno team. 1881 was the first time today the place name Nebovidy use. In 1921, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov. Between 1948 and 1960 Nebovidy belonged to Okres Brno- okolí. After its cancellation Nebovidy came back to Okres Brno- venkov.

Attractions

  • Holy Cross church, which was remodeled in the 18th century baroque parish church since 1329 detectable. In the years 1908 and 1936 were carried out conversions. At the beginning of the 1990s, Gothic wall paintings in the nave, discovered a Gothic portal, Romanesque and Gothic windows. In 1996 the church was added to the culture monument list of the district.
