Necdet Kent

İsmail Necdet Kent ( born 1911; † 20 September 2002) was a Turkish diplomat and 1942-1945 Turkish Consul General in Marseilles.

Posthumously Kent was founded in 2005 with the Raoul Wallenberg Medal award because he had saved during his Marseilles time many Jews persecuted by the Nazis " in a heroic manner " life. Previously, Kent had already received other awards for his actions.

Support was Kent from 1943, among other things Behiç Erkin in the issuing of more than 18,000 Turkish passports for persecuted Jews who did not have the slightest connection to Turkey or the Ottoman Empire part.

Kent is the father of Muhtar Kent, president of the U.S. beverage company Coca -Cola.
