Geography

Geographical location

Neckartailfingen is located on the Neckar River, about 25 kilometers south of Stuttgart. The old center is to the left of the Neckar. After the Second World War the Neckar was mainly built right, it was the so-called " suburban ".

History

Neckartailfingen was first mentioned in records in 1090 as Tagelvingen in Hirsauer Codex (Codex Hirsaugiensis ). The place at that time belonged to the counts of Urach and related with them counts of Achalm. According to the entries the counts Liutold gave (also known as Liutolf ) and Cuno Achalm multiple goods and their share of the church Hirsau. While the exact date of the gift in Hirsauer Codex is not indicated after Count Cuno Achalm but died in 1092, the donation was dated to around 1090. On behalf of the monastery Hirsau the Romanesque church of St. Martin was probably completed in the year 1111 (according to dendrochronological examination of the roof beams ). Between 1254 and 1265 the Counts of Württemberg bought the county Urach, together with the castle Achalm. Neckartailfingen has always been an important transit point for many vehicles. At the time of stagecoaches Neckartailfingen was an important station for changing horses.
