Ned Barkas

Edward " Ned " Barkas ( born November 21, 1902 in Warley, Yorkshire, † April 24, 1962 in Birmingham ) was an English football player and coach players.

Life

Ned Barkas was born in 1902 into a family of footballers Yorkshire: His brother Sam was later national team and was at times captain of the national team; the other three brothers Tommy, Jimmy and Harry practiced this sport later also professionally made ​​. The subsequent national player Billy Felton was a cousin of the brothers.

Ned Barkas himself played as a defender. On a professional level he was active in the 1920s and 1930s in the First Division in Huddersfield, Birmingham and Chelsea. His successes include the two-time winning the championship with Huddersfield under Herbert Chapman and two runners-up at the FA Cup, one each with Huddersfield and Birmingham.

After he had played in the years before the outbreak of the Second World War at Chelsea, Barca came in 1939 in the Midlands back. Until 1943 he worked as player-manager of an amateur club in Solihull, which was his only station as a football coach.

Ned Barkas died in 1962 at the age of 59 years in Birmingham.
