Ned Beatty

Ned Thomas Beatty ( born July 6, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American actor who appeared in over 200 films. He is best known for his role as Lex Luthor's henchman Otis in the comic book adaptation Superman ( 1978) and as the victim Bobby Trippe in his debut film Deliverance, each of the first (1972).

Life

Beatty is the son of Margaret Fortney Beatty, born Lennis, and Charles William Beatty. He has a sister, Mary Margaret Beatty Gwinner. Beatty was brought up religiously and began 1947 in gospel choirs to sing in the church choir of St. Matthews Church, but also in his local church and thus deserved money to help feed his family.
