Ned R. Healy

Ned Romeyn Healy ( born August 9, 1905 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, † September 10, 1977 in Long Beach, California ) was an American politician. Between 1945 and 1947 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ned Healy attended the common schools and the Marquette University in Milwaukee. He then studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In this city he acted 1929-1932 with securities. In 1932 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked in the trade. From 1939 to 1940 he headed the local branch in Hollywood of state authority California State Relief Administration. At the same time began to beat as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In the years 1943 and 1944 he sat in the Los Angeles City Council. He was also in 1944, 1946 and 1948 a delegate to the regional party days of the Democrats in California.

In the congressional elections of 1944, Healy was in the 13th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Republican Norris Poulson took on 3 January 1945 he had beaten in the election. Since he lost in 1946 against Poulson, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1947. During this time, ended the Second World War. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Healy acted to 1969 with car accessories and spare parts in Los Angeles. In 1948, he unsuccessfully sought his return to Congress. He died on September 10, 1977 in Long Beach.
