Nedelja

The Nedelja (Slovenian for Sunday ) is the Slovene-speaking church newspaper of the Diocese of Gurk and the oldest weekly newspaper of the Carinthian Slovenes. It was founded in March 1926 by a group of Slovene priests.

She embodies how few, linguistic, cultural and identity- continuity and the will to live of the Slovene minority, it is felt that their story structure, tracking ( 1941 them because of the Slovene language banned by the Nazis ), a new beginning and transformation forth.

After the war, the Diocese of Gurk took over the editorship of the newspaper. The change in the last two decades was from a traditional religious devotional sheet into a modern medium of the ethnic group that the challenges of the times presents with extensive cultural and local news, a monthly literary supplement and with socially critical week comments and with the creation of an internet platform. This made it possible to remain in the Carinthia by far the most widely used print media to the Slovene minority.
