Nedo Nadi

Nedo Nadi ( born June 9, 1894 in Livorno, † 29 January 1940 in Rome ) was an Italian saber and foil fencer.

In the Summer Olympics 1912 in Stockholm, Nadi took at the age of 18 years, the Olympic gold medal in foil fencing and was a child prodigy of fencing .. At the Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920, he won a total of five gold medals. With his brother Aldo Nadi, also a very successful fencer, he was in 1920 in all three winning teams.

1921 Nadi was fencing master and now was no longer an amateur, so he was not allowed to run in the Olympics. Until 1926 he worked in Buenes Aires as fencing instructor; after his return to Italy he was Italian professional master in all three branches of service. From 1935 to 1940 he was president of the Italian Fencing Federation. In 1940 he committed suicide.

The Olympic Village in Munich, a street was named after Nedo Nani.
