Neferthenut

Nofrethenut was an ancient Egyptian queen of the 12th dynasty. She was in a pyramid next to the pyramid of Sesostris III. buried and it is therefore assumed that they are the wife of Sesostris III. (about 1872 BC to about 1852 BC).

Your little queens pyramid next to the pyramid of Sesostris III. was once approximately 16.8 × 16.8 m tall and perhaps as high. Today it is received poorly and consisted of mud bricks that were once covered in limestone. In the East there was a small chapel, but only very poorly preserved and can not be further reconstructed. It was once decorated with reliefs.

Below the pyramid are the grave of the queen rooms. She can be reached via a corridor which connects the four pyramids in the north of the pyramid of the ruler. In the grave chamber is the sarcophagus of Queen, on which it is referred to as the king 's wife and is united with the white crown. The inscription on the sarcophagus is remarkably badly engraved and suggests that the Queen should not be buried here from the beginning, maybe she was not even the wife of Sesostris III. In another chamber beneath the pyramid is a second, unmarked sarcophagus.
