Negroni

The Negroni is a classic, originating from Italy cocktail. He is listed by the International Bartenders Association in the category of pre-dinner cocktail (aperitif ).

Preparation

The Negroni is prepared directly in a chilled tumbler (or Old-fashioned Glass). Stirring it over some ice cubes in equal parts gin, red ( Italian ) vermouth and bitters aperitif Campari and garnished with half a slice of orange or a piece of shell ( " zest " or twist).

History

The Negroni was invented in Florence in the Caffè Casoni in Via de ' Tornabuoni. It is named after Count Camillo Negroni, the ( Fosco Scarselli ) for the first time an extended Americano with gin ordered the bartender 1919-1920.

Variants

  • Sometimes the Negroni shot is added to soda water.
  • Often, the Negroni is served, contrary to the standard in martini glasses.
  • Negroni sbagliato (wrong Negroni ), where the gin is replaced by dry Spumante. This cocktail was invented in the Bar Basso in Milan.
  • Negrosky wherein the gin is replaced with vodka.
