Neil Armstrong (ice hockey)

Neil Armstrong ( born December 23, 1932 in Plympton, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey referee in the National Hockey League ( NHL).

Armstrong began his career in 1957 and took part in more games than Gordie Howe. In total, there were 1,744 in 22 years.

In his youth he began initially normal to play ice hockey, in which it was clear that he in the NHL would not be able to play. However, it offered him the opportunity to become referees, and so he could work in this league. He got on very quickly and was honored for 1973 in Detroit that he led his 1314tes game and held until then by George Hayes record broke.

In 1978 he retired from active sports and was a talent scout for the Montreal Canadiens.

His merit for the sport was recognized in 1991 with the inclusion in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
