Neil Arnott

Neil Arnott ( born May 15, 1788 in Arbroath, † March 2, 1874 in London) was a Scottish physician.

After studying medicine in Aberdeen and London Arnott was a 19-year surgeon in the East India Company. 1811 Arnott opened a practice in London, where he became a doctor for the Spanish and French Embassy and for Queen Victoria in the course of time.

Arnotts was interested in natural philosophy and published in some works. His book Elements of Physics has been repeatedly reprinted. He also invented the hydrostatic bed, a fan and a furnace.
