Neil Gershenfeld

Neil A. Gershenfeld is an American physicist and computer scientist.

Gershenfeld studied physics at Swarthmore College ( completion 1981) and then made his PhD in 1990. at Cornell University. He worked for Bell Laboratories. Currently he directs at MIT MIT Center for Bits and Atoms, a spin-off of MIT Media Lab. Where he conducts research on different areas of physical computing and alternative computer techniques. He founded there the first FabLab and is considered the founder and pioneer of open - hardware movement.
