Nellie Clifden

Nellie Clifden was an Irish actress who had an affair with Edward, Prince of Wales. They met in 1861 when Prince Edward ten weeks in the Curragh Camp in Ireland in the Grenadier Guards spent.

When the information about the incident Prince Edwards parents reached, Prince Albert of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha and Queen Victoria of England, his father visited him at his place of study in Cambridge. They took a long walk in the rain to talk about the affair. Prince Albert died soon after Queen Victoria and Prince Edward and gave the affair the blame for the death of her husband.

She said he had been " killed by did dreadful business". ( He was killed by this terrible affair. )

The relationship between Nellie Clifden and the Prince of Wales ended soon after. In 1863 he married Princess Alexandra of Denmark, but still had affairs with other women.
