Nemuro Subprefecture
Nemuro (Japanese根 室 振兴 局, Nemuro - Shinko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. She has, including those covered by Japan South Kuril Islands ( Kurilenkonflikt ) an area of 8533.96 km ² and a population of 86 152 (as of July 31, 2004).
History
The interior of the sub-prefecture of Nemuro (根 室 支 庁, Nemuro - shicho ) in November 1897. In December 1903, the merger was followed by the sub-prefecture Shana (纱 那 支 庁, Shana - shicho ). In August 1945, the Soviet Union occupied the Kuril Islands. On April 28, 1952 Japan was the signing of the Peace Treaty of San Francisco its claims to the Kuril Islands north of Etorofu on ( the counties Uruppu, Shimushiru and Shumushu on the same islands Uruppu, Shimushiru and Shumushu ).
In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 renaming in Nemuro - Shinko - kyoku, as well as the administrative subordination to the sub-prefecture was Kushiro.
