Neo-impressionism

Neo-Impressionism refers to a style in painting. The term was coined by the critic Félix Fénéon 1886 in an article for the Belgian magazine L'art Moderne. He wanted to distinguish the Georges Seurat's painting style of the Impressionists.

The style was later also under the coined by Paul Signac name Pointillism ( puncturing style) are known. Seurat, however, preferred the terminology Divisionists ( division painting). More Neo-Impressionists are Anna Boch, Henri Edmond Cross, Maximilien Luce and Theo van Rysselberghe.

Nowadays, the term Neo-Impressionism Pointillism both synonymous, and very clearly different is overlapping late -, post - and Post-Impressionism with the terms used.
