Neomorphus is a genus of the subfamily of Erdkuckucke in the family of cuckoos.

Incidence and characteristics

Representatives of the genus Neomorphus live in the Neotropics in tropical rain forests. The cuckoos have a strikingly large hood, long legs and long tail feathers. When foraging ants follow swarms and devour the frightened by the ants prey. All species are not brood parasites.

The genus includes five species. Sister taxon is the genus Geococcyx. The basic cuckoo shed some authors as a subspecies of Tajazuikuckucks ( Neomorphus geoffroyi squamiger ) classified. The German name followed by Avibase.
