Nepal Airlines

Nepal Airlines (formerly Royal Nepal Airlines ) is the national airline of Nepal, based in Kathmandu and based on the Kathmandu airport.

History

The airline was founded in July 1958 as Royal Nepal Airlines and started its operations with a Douglas DC -3. Some years later the fleet was the Fokker F-27 for the first time by a modernized Turbopropmodell 1972 first jets were added, including the Boeing 727

In its early years, the airline flew to London Heathrow with a stopover in Frankfurt.

After the political developments in 2006, where King Gyanendra lost power, the word Royal was removed in the naming of government, military, police and also with the airline. It is now called Nepal Airlines.

Since November 2013, the company stands together with all other airlines in Nepal due to security concerns on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union. Flights to Europe but were previously not offered.

Destinations

Nepal Airlines serves 30 domestic and ten international routes, including Bangkok, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Osaka, Singapore and Shanghai.

Incidents

  • On May 16, 2013 Twin Otter came off during the landing of the slope, while five people were seriously injured.
  • On February 16, 2014, the last Twin Otter crashed on the way from Pokhara to Jumla in the mountains of Nepal from. In this case, all 18 occupants were killed.
