Nepali Congress

The Nepali Congress Party ( nepali: नेपाली काँग्रेस; engl. Nepali Congress Party - NCP) was established on 25 January 1947 in Calcutta as a Nepali National Congress. They reunited on 9 April 1950 with the Nepali Democratic Congress, also founded in Calcutta and called for the overthrow of the Rana regime.

The party made ​​several prime ministers of the country, including the first ( Prasad Koirala Bishweshwar ) and Girija Prasad Koirala.

The party 's social democratic and is a member of the Socialist International.

On 21 July 2008, the General Secretary of NCP, Ram Baran Yadav, was elected first president of the Republic of Nepal.
