Nepenthes campanulata

Nepenthes campanulata, air pot

Nepenthes campanulata is a Kannenpflanzenart from the family of pitcher plants plants ( Nepenthaceae ), it is native to Borneo. It was discovered in September 1957 by André Kostermans and first described in 1973 by Shigeo Kurata.

Description

Nepenthes campanulata forms a basal rosette and has some unusual features for pitcher plants: it has no ability to climb and also stays compact in height. The root of the plant reaches 4 mm in diameter. Also produced Nepenthes campanulata only one type of cans. These small, yellow-green pitchers with their relatively large opening can reach a height of about 5-7 cm. The measuring up to 5 cm in diameter peristome is relatively small (narrow) and kept on the inside in darker green. Digestive glands are located only in the lower third of the pot. The cans are relatively short-lived. The leaves are only about 5-10 cm long. Already 30 cm tall plants are fully grown and flowering size.

Dissemination

The plant grows in about 300 m altitude on mossy, otherwise substrateless limestone rocks in the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan on Borneo. The sites are very bright and have high humidity.
