Nereto

Nereto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5131 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Teramo in Abruzzo. The municipality is situated approximately 20 km north-northeast of Teramo and about 19 ​​km east-southeast of Ascoli Piceno.

History

In some cases it is assumed that the place name is of Greek origin. Evidence does not exist for it. Around 1000 AD, a church built here. With the 2009 earthquake, some buildings were damaged or destroyed in Nereto.
