Neritz

Neritz ( Low German Neer ) is a municipality in the district Stormarn in Schleswig-Holstein. The municipal area still belongs next to the village Neritz Floggensee.

Geography

Neritz is located on the main road 75 between Bad Oldesloe and Bargteheide.

History

Neritz lies on the ancient trade route between Hamburg and Lübeck and was first mentioned in 1345. By Neritz was also the Alster -Trave Canal, which was built in the 15th and 16th centuries, and should establish a navigable link between Hamburg and Lübeck. After 1549, after many disputes over the canal construction and its cost of lock-keeper was killed in Neritz, the further construction was stopped and the canal fell into disrepair.
