Nerl River (Volga)

The Nerl (Russian Нерль ) is a right tributary of the Volga in the Yaroslavl Oblast and Tver Oblast.

The Nerl has its origins in Somino Lake. This is fed by the 9 km long Wjoksa which forms the outflow of Pleshcheyevo lake. It flows in a predominantly westerly direction and flows after 112 km at Sknjatino in the Uglich Reservoir, which is drained by the Volga River in the north. It drains an area of 3270 km ². It is covered in winter from November to April of a layer of ice. The annual runoff is dominated by the spring floods. The average discharge 55 km above the mouth is 12.8 m³ / s Most important tributaries of the Nerl are Kubr and Wjulka from left, as well as Sablja from the right.
