Nermin Abadan-Unat

Nermin Abadan - Unat ( born 1921 in Vienna ) is a German - Turkish sociologist and researcher on women. The social scientist internationally has become known is a pioneer of critical study of the migration to Germany.

The daughter of a German and a Turk was from 1953 to 1989 worked at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University, where she founded the Chair of Political Sociology. As a guest professor she taught at universities. From 1978 she was a "quota - Senator " ( appointed by the President Member of the Senate ) of Turkey.

The first study to immigration from Turkey to Europe increased Abadan - Unat 1963 before. In the following decades it was next to her academic work, often critical suggestions regarding the immigrant issue in politics and society, for which she was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit.
