Nespos

NESPOS ( Neanderthal Studies Professional Online Service ) is the first global scientific database to early human history. It contains all the important data is stored around Neanderthal finds and sites. Furthermore, it contains 3D image data, such as CT scans, surface scans and high resolution photos of human fossils and artifacts. In the programs Arte Core and GeoCore that were programmed specifically for NESPOS, the findings can be opened and edited. This direct contact with highly sensitive originals human fossils or tools of organic material is reduced to a minimum. NESPOS thus contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.

Project

NESPOS was part of the project TNT ( The Neanderthal Tools ) developed, were involved in the eight partner. In addition to the Neanderthal Museum as the initiator of the project, these included other European museums such as the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences ( Brussels), the Croatian Natural History Museum (Zagreb), the University of Poitiers, including CNRS and partners from the fields of media technology and software development such as ART COM (Berlin, consortium leader ), PXP Austria (Vienna), the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systems Engineering (Potsdam ) and National Geographic Germany as a media partner.
