Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport ( IATA code: CCU ) is the name of the airport of Kolkata. It is located in Dum Dum, a northern suburb of Kolkata ( about 18 kilometers from the city center ). Originally the civilian airport as Dum Dum International Airport was known, but was renamed in honor of the Bengali patriots Subhash Chandra Bose in early 1995.

1924 landed the first aircraft on the site. In the 1960s, the airport was one of the busiest in Asia, today start here except a few international connections mainly domestic flights. There are two parallel runways, only one of which is permanently used for take-offs and landings. The airport consists of three terminals: National, International and freight.

In 2000, the airport has been renovated and is therefore one of the currently best preserved in India. It is connected to the Kolkataer metro line.
