Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

The Institute of Image and Sound ( Dutch: Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid ) is a Dutch media archive and museum. The institute was founded in June 1997 in Hilversum and one of the largest audiovisual collections in Europe.

Archives

In contrast to the German Broadcasting Archive, which leaves it to the individual ARD archiving program assets and only about historic resources ( Weimar Republic, East Germany, and others) has, the Institute of Image and Sound, the complete image and sound archives of public service broadcasters taken over from the Netherlands. The archives are supplemented by numerous other collections and made available to the public.

The Institute has set itself also taken on the task, if possible, to archive the works of Dutch documentary filmmaker and documented.
