Netolice

Netolice ( German Nettolitz, also Netolice ) is a city in the Czech Republic. Located 23 kilometers northwest of the center of České Budějovice and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

Netolice is located in the hills known as Nettolitzer northern foothills of the Blanský creek on Bezdrevský, which is also called Netolický creek here. South and west of the city lie several large ponds. Netolice is the intersection of the state road 145 between České Budějovice and Vimperk with the 122 between Smědeč and Tyn nad Vltavou and the starting point of 142 Volyně.

Neighboring towns are Krtely and Hradiště in the north, Hláska and Podeřiště in the northeast, Mahouš and Olšovice in the east, Hlodačky and Babice the southeast, Lusatia and Grejnarov in the south, Peklo, Podroužek, Švarcenberk and Hrbov the southwest, Petrův Dvůr and Kratochvile in the west and Velky boron in the northwest.

History

According to the Chronica Boemorum Netolice said to have been one of the border festivities of Prince Slavnik in 981. After the destruction of the Slavnikiden by the Přemyslids this took over the castle, which went down in the 13th century.

Below the castle, the outer bailey was built with the Church of St. Wenceslas, whose existence is well established since 1167 and was built around a city. Earlier, dated 1088 deed above, probably also arose at this time. 1253 can be found in a document Otakar II Přemysls includes the final mention of a castellan of Netolice.
