Network booting

As a network boot is meant a generally over the network booted operating system.

This type of loading an operating system is always necessary when the computer no local operating system ( on the hard disk, a compact disk or floppy disk ). This occurs ( some blade servers, for example ) for diskless computers. Also known as Thin Client designated terminals, which only bring a monitor, input devices and minimal additional hardware to be booted over the network.

At startup, all relevant code is transported over the network and then executed on the computer.
