Network to Network Interface

A Network to Network Interface ( NNI), and Network Node Interface, is an interface between networks (network nodes) in communications technology. It can be the interface between public networks act (Public NNI), but also between public and private networks.

NNI in telecommunications

In telecommunications, a NNI Interconnection is a coupling of two telecommunications networks. According to the OSI model, the connection is on the second layer.

Since there is no telecommunications provider that can reach all destinations through its system, providers close together and link their networks in order to achieve greater coverage or connect it more cost effective locations that are not located in its own network.
