Neu-Seeland

New Zealand is a municipality in the district of Upper Spreewald -Lausitz in Brandenburg and part of the Office Altdöbern.

Geography

The namesake of the municipality is the Lusatian Lakeland, which was created by the flooding of the Lusatian lignite opencast mining holes coalfield and still arises. This process had a strong influence on the landscape and settlement pattern in the region, as many former villages were dredged here. The Altdöberner lake Großräschener lake, the lake and the Sedlitzer Partwitz limits it to the territory of the municipality.

The surrounding communities within ten kilometers are Neupetershain, Drebkau, Welzow, Altdöbern, Proschim, Haidemühl and Grossraeschen.

Community structure

The municipality was created in the wake of the Brandenburg municipal reform on 1 February 2002 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Bahnsdorf ( with the hamlet Lieske ), Lindchen ( with the hamlet Leeskow and the local layers dried Wolf and Kunersdorf ) Lubochow and Ressen.
