Neuendorf, Switzerland

Neuendorf is a municipality in the district Gaeu of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It is located south of the Jura foothills in the thinning level. Neuendorf has a preserved village center and has kept its rural character. The industrial area with various logistics companies is clearly separated from the village north of the A1 motorway.

History

With the first mention of the hamlet values ​​the history of New Village starts at 1100. West of the village lay the hamlet Kipf that is listed in connection with a Heuzehnten in a document from the year 1308. In the years 1400-1600 we read all three names - Kipf, Werd and Nüwendorf - side by side. Probably along the creek, new homes were east of Kipf built that one the " nüwe village" named as a new part of the village. This name came out on top, so that from 1600 in the records only the name Neuendorf is mentioned. 1654 destroyed a large fire in Oberndorf 40 thatched houses ( ridges ) and the village church newly built only three years ago. The second great fire cremated in 1767 again 12 houses and 16 barns.

Attractions

On August 20, 2013, the Migros diverting Neuendorf AG took to the roofs of their buildings in the industrial area next to the A1, the largest photovoltaic power plant in Switzerland until now in full operation. It has an area of ​​32,000 m² and a total output of 5.21 MWp. The annual yield of up to 4.84 GWh flows into the public grid.
