Neuenkirchen, Landhagen

New churches is a municipality in the north of the district Vorpommern - Greifswald. The community is managed by the Office Landhagen based in the community. The place is since 1999 official residence, until then was the official residence in Greifswald.

Geography, traffic breakdown

New churches located about two kilometers north of Greifswald, north of the river Ryck at the Greifswald Bodden.

Through the community, the Federal Highway 105 (formerly B96 ) runs. The Federal Highway 20 is on the junction of Greifswald ( about 19 km). The nearest train station is Greifswald on the railway line Angermuende - Stralsund.

History

Leist

Leist was first mentioned as Lestnice 1207. It seems a Slavic settlement with the interpretation of the name to be as hazel.

New churches

New churches was first mentioned in 1285 as Nienkerken. The area was already inhabited Slavic. The place is probably the same as the 1248 mentioned Slavic village of Damme, which means as much as oak wood. The area was owned by the monastery Eldena to secularization, then Dominal, ie ducal possession until it has been paid XIV of the University of Greifswald in 1634 by the last Duke of Pomerania Bogislaw. Its proximity to the city of Greifswald ( commuter belt ), the establishment of the Office Landhagen and the large commercial area, the population has almost doubled since 1990.

Olden Hagen

Olden Hagen is a German foundation and was called until 1865. The name means Old forest. The village was originally only a single farm. The farm was created by the University of Greifswald in 1867. Previously, Olden Hagen a field name to the Swedish Matrikelkarten from 1694 and refers probably a deserted village from earlier times.

Wampen

Wampen was first mentioned in 1207 as Wampand. The Slavic name means Decoy hunting.

The municipal council consists of seven representatives of the general electorate Community New Churches ( AWN ) and three of the CDU and the mayor since 2009.

Mayor is Norbert Riechert ( CDU).

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 15 October 1998 by the Home Office and registered under No. 171 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: " Shared by blue and silver; top three golden squirrel sitting next to each other, each a golden nut holding in the paws; below a continuous black cross in the middle topped with a golden plow. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Weimar Michael Zapfe.
