Neuferchau is a district of the city blocks in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

History

Neuferchau is a Wendish foundation. The name comes from the old Slavic vrŭhŭ and means " high place ". The village Verchow which southwest of the present village was located, had been abandoned by its inhabitants before the Thirty Years War. 1606 place under the name " Nigenverchau " was mentioned for the first time. The foundation of the present village was Neuferchau from 1697th 19 tenants built their farms on the lands, which fall under the Good Köbbelitz.

By the Lord of Alvensleben on Isenschnibbe a collection for the construction of a church and a school was conducted in the 18th century. 1744 joined the first teacher at his service. The Church, a timber-framed building was inaugurated on March 13, 1757. 1759 the cemetery was established around the church. This 61 mulberry trees were planted. The leaves were used for the breeding of silkworms.

The purchase of the field marks for 8000 Taler was made on 11 November 1812. The first economic boom came with the cultivation of the Drömling by the lords of the manor Theodor Hermann Rimpau from Kunrau, who ran the drainage and reclamation of wetlands since 1850. The separation in 1850 led by merging the small areas of arable land and a reorganization to higher yields. 1883 Neuferchau was developed by solid lines. In 1889 the company was incorporated on the railway line Salzwedel - Oebisfelde.

In the village infrastructure and most of the houses and yards were redeveloped after 1990. From the once planted mulberry trees, which are also found in the coat of arms of the municipality, two have survived. In 1992, a "Unit Oak " was planted to mark the first village festival.

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Neuferchau decided on 8 January 2009 that Neuferchau is incorporated into the city blocks. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

After the annexation is Neuferchau district and village of the city blocks. In Neuferchau a Ortschaftsrat was formed with four members including mayor.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 18 August 1995 by the regional council of Magdeburg.

Blazon: " Argent, a green mulberry branch with two red fruits; in the green sign foot a silver plow. "

The colors of the community are green - silver ( white).

The main character of the arms - the mulberry branch with fruit - is community specific. In the 18th century were planted in Neuferchau over 60 mulberry trees to create through sericulture a living. Two of these distinctive trees have been preserved of it, they stand in front of the church and thus shape the image of the town center. The red fruits symbolize the fertility of the district, the unfolding leaf is growing and flourishing Neuferchaus. The Silver Plough in the green sign foot points to the agricultural character of the place.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg Heraldikerin Erika Fiedler.

Flag

The flag is green - white ( 1:1) streaked with the municipal coat of arms placed. The municipality flag can take the form of Hissflagge, the cross flag, the Hanging flag, the banner and pennant.

Clubs

In the village a lively club life is maintained. The oldest club, the glee club Neuferchau 1863 eV, has existed since 1863.
