Neugrund is an impact crater in Estonia. The impact site is located between the islands Osmussaare and Krassi saar in the Baltic Sea ( Gulf of Finland ).

Description

The crater is the largest and oldest in Estonia. It was demonstrated in 1998. Its diameter is eight kilometers. The age is estimated to be 470 million years, so the impact took place in the Ordovician.

The impact structure is located on the seabed and is not visible on the surface.

On the island Osmussaare are two boulders that were probably thrown by the impact of the asteroid on land.
