The Neuklostersee is the most north-westerly, part of the Sternberg Lake District larger lake in the district of North West Mecklenburg, Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The lake is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Wismar. North of the lake lies the eponymous city New Monastery. It has an approximate length of 2.7 kilometers, a width of 1.8 km with an average depth of 4.5 meters. From New Monastery stands a broad, southward tapering end, wooded peninsula in the lake and the lake is a U-shaped appearance. The lake was created as all the Mecklenburg lakes in the last ice age. The eastern and southern shores of the lake is mostly forested. The lake has an almost continuous belt of reeds. Only in the area of ​​New Monastery and the Zurower district Nakenstorf are some places available. The lake is used both for fishing and tourism. About the Teppnitzbach he has a connection to the Warnow and thus to the Baltic Sea.
