The Neumarkt ( Oberpf ) station, which is classified with the train station category 3 of DB Station & Service, is the oldest and most important railway station in Neumarkt and also the only long-distance support.

Location and track connection

The station is located south of the old town at the end of Bahnhofstrasse. The station building is located on the northeast side of the railway line between Nuremberg and Regensburg. Right on the station building is adjacent to the platform 1, it follow the platforms 2/4 and 5 Subsequently followed by many marshalling and stabling.

South of the station the railway line branches off towards Neumarkt- Unterdietfurt Greiselbach. The station Neumarkt (Oberpfalz ) is served alongside occasional InterCity services by DB long-distance transport, especially by DB Regio Bayern and agilis in regional and S- Bahn services.

On the site of the former goods station is now home to the bus station, which is served by all city bus lines of the Neumarkt and numerous lines of the OVF and the RBO. From here, there are links to almost all parts of the city as well as in all the churches in the district, as well as to Amberg and to the train stations and Allersberg Kinding. Service facilities

History

The station building was completed on December 1, 1871 with the opening of the railway line between Nuremberg and Neumarkt. 1873 was followed by the extension of the route to Regensburg. As of June 1, 1888 wrong from here also the traits of Sulztalbahn towards Beilngries and Frey city. In addition to the station building for passenger also was also a goods station, on the mainly goods of local companies were handled.

On 22 April 1945, the station was almost completely destroyed in an air raid by the U.S. Air Force. Many people, including refugees in a car parked in the station train were killed here.

After the war, the station was rebuilt and expanded, in addition was the track 3 is removed in the 1970s, and there built the platform for the tracks 2 and 4.

After the passenger was set on the Sulztalbahn on September 25, 1987, the station lost its function as the interchange station Altmühltal. Shortly after, the adjacent freight depot was shut down.

In 1995, a separate platform was built for the track 5, which was equipped from the outset disabled by an elevator.

The former goods station was 1996/1997 demolished, in its place of today's bus station was built. In the course of construction and the station building was completely renovated and designed the station in front of the building entirely new. On the platforms destination displays were installed and a training point for trainees in the DB set up on the concourse, which existed until 2007.

Expansion for the S -Bahn

For the S -Bahn Nuremberg - Neumarkt, which began operating in December 2010, the station was remodeled since autumn 2008: the platform 2/4 has been completely refurbished and modernized and brought up to a height of 76 cm, the platform roofing was renewed and extended.
