The rural municipality of Neunkirchen is located in Geo - Mountain Natural Park Street -Odenwald between Wertheim and Miltenberg.

Etymology

The name Neunkirchen is composed of the Middle High German words niuwe and church. You mean new church.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1232, was the longest of its history under the rule of the archbishopric of Mainz and was a prosperous farming community.

Incorporations

The amount of community Neunkirchen created by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Neunkirchen, Richelbach and Umpfenbach on 1 July 1975.

Wind farm Neunkirchen

Stadtwerke Tübingen have acquired the wind farm Neunkirchen Neunkirchen- Umpfenbach two built for a total of 10 million euro wind turbines each with 2.4 MW, which should go in the winter of 2013. The hub height of the turbines is 141 meters with foundation: the two about 80 meter high reinforced concrete towers are each extended by a 58 meter high steel tower, so that the almost 60m long rotor blades through a circular area with a diameter of 117m. On October 8, 2013, the assembly of the two spiders on the two gondolas was completed exactly according to schedule. The project was successfully completed without accident or injury.

Neunkirchen

The Fourteen Holy Helpers - hard in August was a high holiday in the community, where many believers came from out of town. High Mass and procession through the village were highlight of the day. The festival is also a plenary indulgence was connected. This led to the Ortsnecknamen " drain sufferers ".

Richelbach

In Richelbach was the "poor man's dish " Semmede, a deep-fried in oil simple pudding to which there was applesauce, distributed. This resulted in the neighboring towns to insult the Richelbacher as " Samedsfresser ".
