Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the Danube- forest in the border triangle Germany - Austria - Czech Republic and Bavaria - Bohemia - Upper Austria at the foot of Dreisessel Mountain in the Lower Bavarian Forest. Neureichenau is located 15 km east of Forest churches, 20 km southeast of Freyung, 26 km from the border with the Czech Republic ( in Philippsreut ) and 7 km from the border with Austria.

History

By 1600, led a wandering glassworks in the " Reichenau " settlement activity a. Neureichenau (formerly sub- Reichenau ) belonged to the part of the old Bishopric of Passau, who acquired by Prince-Bishop Leopold Ernst Graf von Firmian 1765 by the Upper Austrian rule Rannariedl. In 1806 came the present-day municipality after it had previously belonged to the Grand Duchy of Salzburg from 1803 to 1806 to Bavaria. On 27 April 1951, the community was officially renamed mold Bach Neureichenau.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Gsenget gave up their independence and decided to integrate into the community Neureichenau. On April 1, 1971, Klafferstraß was added voluntarily. On 1 January 1978 Altreichenau and paint houses were incorporated into the municipality Neureichenau.

Personalities

From the district Lackenhauser dates:

  • Eduard Weigl, Prof. Dr. Theol. ( Born May 31, 1869 in paint houses, † February 4, 1960 in Munich) was a priest, Pontifical House prelate, professor of pastoral theology, homiletics and liturgy at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich and from 1909 to 1946 director of the Archdiocesan Seminary Georgianum in Munich.

Coat of arms

Neureichenau

The coat of arms description reads: " A golden wave bar shared by red and green; above a silver book, hang out of the three golden seal; below a silver three- mountain, on a blue ball. "

The golden wave bar and the three mountain bring the geographical location of the community on the big Michl and am Dreisessel in the lower Bavarian Forest expressed. The Book of Seals in the upper field comes from the coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop Leopold Ernst Graf von Firmian, the Neureichenau acquired in 1765 for the diocese of Passau. The ball in the sign is a so-called Paternoster ball and points as a product of the glass-making to the local importance of that sector.

Altreichenau

The coat of arms description reads: "Divided in silver and red; forward on a formed of three green blocks stone base, a red falcon, behind a white / silver goblet. "

Founded by the Counts of Salburg shows the falcon, the country's domination of Austria in red and silver ( since 1506) and the Prince Bishops of Passau be ( since 1765 ) by the colors. The cup is reminiscent of the glass production in Altreichenau. The three stone blocks should also refer to the Dreisesselberg, a landmark of the region.

Lackenhauser

The coat of arms description reads: On a green background a golden three- Berg, also in white / silver a masonry obelisk, right, and left a white / silver spruce branch.

The hills and spruce branches refer to the geographical location of the place ( East Bavaria / Bavarian Forest) The obelisk stands for the Adalbert Stifter monument that stands in the district Lackenhauser and is reminiscent of the poet.
