Neurotensin

Neurotensin is a neuropeptide that is produced in the central nervous system and in the N cells of the small intestine. In the gastrointestinal tract, it acts as intestinal hormone and as such inhibit the acid secretion of the stomach and the intestinal contraction and stimulate glucagon secretion. In the brain, neurotensin has antipsychotic activity and may be involved in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia.
