Neurotypical

Neurotypical (abbreviated NT, or norm- neuro) is a neologism, which is used to characterize people whose neurological development and state to match what most people consider to be normal with respect to the language skills and social skills. First, the term was introduced by the Autism Rights Movement as a label for non- autistic people, later, the concept of the neurodiversity movement and was picked up by scientists.

The National Autistic Society of the UK suggests the use of the term before in their recommendations to journalists.

Sometimes the term is also used sarcastically; for example in Autistics.org ' s ironic " Institute for the Study of the Neurologically Typical".
