The train station is next to the Neuwied Engers station of the train and one of the hubs of public transport of the city of Neuwied in Rhineland-Palatinate and is located in the west. History
As in 1857, the Left Rhine line was opened, there was a station called Neuwied in Weissenthurm. The ferry service between Neuwied and white tower was carried out in 1860 by the railway company.
The current station was Neuwied, so opened at the same time in 1869, right- Rhine line. In the early years, especially after the opening of Westerwaldbahn (1884), however, the Engers Neuwied station was more important than the train station. It was only after the construction of Crown Prince Wilhelm Bridge ( predecessor of today's Urmitzer railway bridge) between Passengers and Urmitz and the opening of the railway line Neuwied Koblenz in 1918 won the station in importance, especially after the suspension of operations at the Westerwaldbahn.
On 22 December 1947, near the makeshift Wiedbrücke in Neuwied a serious railway accident when two express trains, which came D 269 and D 48 together occurred. 42 people died and 116 were injured.
In early October 2011, the first phase of construction for the modernization of the railway station was completed in Neuwied.
