Nevada Assembly

The Nevada Assembly is the lower house of the Nevada Legislature, the legislature of the U.S. state of Nevada. The chamber of parliament is made up of 42 members, representing an electoral district respectively. Each of these units includes a fixed average rate of 47,400 inhabitants ( as of 2000), although the Census Bureau in 2006 an average population of 59,400 per district estimated. Deputies are elected for two -year terms. There is a limitation of the term of office of six (12 years). The first consequences will be felt only in 2010, when twelve Members must resign from the assembly.

The deputies of the Assembly gathered until 1971 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City the capital; since they use the newly constructed Legislature Building in the immediate neighborhood. As in neighboring California, the lower house of the legislature is referred to as an " assembly " and not just, as usual, as the " House of Representatives ".

Meetings

The Assembly, as well as the Senate, is composed of local legislators who get a relatively small daily rate as compensation for the first 60 days of a given session. There are senators who self- selection tend, as the legislative service ratio for jenige without flexible jobs and / or large non-work income, such as doctors and lawyers, is difficult. Furthermore, gathered the assembly and the senate, no longer than is necessary for the completion of all transactions. There are a maximum of 120 days, starting with the first Monday in February in each odd-numbered year. This was designed to limit the duration of a senator, so that his first job is not too long away. In recent years, 120 days were just not enough to complete the Legislativgeschäfte, so that after the last four regular meetings a special meeting had to be convened to settle the Legislativgeschäft.

Structure of the chamber

Chairman of the Chamber is the Speaker of the Assembly. He is initially elected by the majority faction of the chamber before the confirmation by the whole Parliament follows. The Speaker is also responsible for the course of legislation and monitors the shutdowns in the various committees.
