Height

Until recently (about 2010) a height of 6110 m has been specified for the mountain. This amount goes back to Robert Helbling, who made the first measurements of the massif 1908-1918 and which was confirmed in 1956 by Luis Lliboutry and its description of the central Andes. Lliboutrys altitude, however, apply to be imprecise, deviations from 500 meters to the current official maps are not uncommon. In addition, the summit region of Juncal the triangulation is difficult to access, and this area therefore long on the official maps remained unkotiert. Today, the Chilean IGM is a height of 5953 m, the Argentine IGN at a height of 5965 m.
