Névez

Nevez ( Breton Nevez ) is a commune with 2754 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in Brittany. It belongs to the canton of Pont- Aven, Arrondissement Quimper and the Finistère department. Nevez is located directly south-west of Pont -Aven on the west bank of the Aven and the seashore.

The community is adjacent to the main town of Bourg of several small villages, the larger of these are Le Henan, Kerascoët, Kercanic, Kerdruc, Port Manec'h, Raguénez, Rospico and Trémorvézen.

The attractions of Nevez Dolmen, the two castles Château du Hénant ( 15th and 16th centuries ) and Château du Poulguin ( 16th and 17th centuries ), a tide mill dating from the 15th century, the church of the 19th century and several chapels: Sainte -Barbe (15th century), Saint -Mathieu (17th century), Saint -Nicolas (16th century), Sainte -Marguerite (16th century) and Notre -Dame-de -la- Clarté ( 15th and 16th centuries ). A typical architectural style of the whole area are the pierres debout, Breton men zao, about 2.70 m high natural stones of which the walls of many houses were built.

Nevez lives heavily on tourism. It has several sandy beaches, in the municipal area there are some campsites and numerous holiday homes.

Since 2000 there has been twinned with Les Contamines -Montjoie in the Alps. The population is about 2574 (1990) dropped from 2700 in 1982 to 1990 in 2466.
